PRESENTATION
At a time when puppet festivals are flourishing successfully in France, it was vital that Nice, a cosmopolitan crossroads of artistic influences, should create its own. Visit Théâtre de la Massuehas long been keen to pass on its love of puppetry to local audiences.
FORMA, Festival of Rare Objects and Puppetswas born of the Théâtre de la Massue's desire to promote the arts of puppetry and object theatre in the region where it is based. There are very few events around these disciplines in our region today, and we felt it was necessary to offer the public access to the wealth of work produced by both local and international puppeteers. The aim of the festival is also to enable puppeteers from near and far to come together for a festival to discover each other's work and discuss their respective practices.
This desire also goes hand in hand with an ambition for training and research in these disciplines. A puppet university will be set up as part of the programming of the FORMA but also on an ongoing basis, throughout the year, by organising conferences, training courses, workshops and round tables. The aim of this university and its international presence is to encourage academic, professional and cultural exchanges, with the aim of continually enriching these disciplines and those who explore them.

To seek, to see, to be amazed and to discover in the art of contemporary puppetry the richness of unknown and unifying theatrical universes. FORMA 2026 offers you another chance to experience the wonder of our first edition!
We are honoured to invite you to this new travel experience, this singular odyssey, which brings us the joy of discovering art of astonishing diversity and quality.
The momentum that we have created with our partners, for both young and adult audiences, is encouraging us this year to to push the boundaries of traditional puppetry towards its most contemporary extensions. For this new edition, we open up the subject of the mutation of this art form, which dares to overturn its traditional achievements in order to constantly renew itself. You'll discover shows from our region as well as from other European countries, and you'll also be able to take part in a round table discussion, screenings of animated shorts, a puppet and animated film workshop, and family workshops, of course. We believe in the strong dynamic that such a proposal can instil in our region, in terms of culture, exchanges and new encounters, and we hope that this year's edition, at the same level as the last, will be a real success. a richer, more geographically extensive and more diversified programme than the first one, The new website is sure to satisfy your curiosity!
